Improve Your Vacuum's Suction
2 Easy steps to improve your vacuum's suction. A vacuum with weak suction can turn a simple chore into an exhausting workout. Try this quick fix to make sure your vacuum picks up everything in its path.

Step 1: Clean the bag or canister and filter.
Check to make sure the bag or canister isn't full and that the filter isn't dirty. By replacing bags when they're about 3/4 full and cleaning the canisters and filters on a regular basis, you can prolong the life of your vacuum and keep the air moving through the machine so it picks up better.
Step 2: Check the hose.
If you've cleaned everything and there's still no pickup, check the hose for a clog. Remove the hose from the vacuum and drop a coin down one end. If it doesn't come out the other end, you'll know you have a clog. Remove the debris by pushing a broomstick through the hose. This should remove any blockage.
If the above steps don't work, it may be time to invest in a new machine.
